Click to go HOME So again it’s going to be cold and frosty again tonight- but in my area- it will only get to freezing for an hour or so. Hopefully we’ll be ok. I’ve not covered them up because I think when I did that last time, it did them more harm than good. The hydrangea is going strong As you can see above, the hydrangea has started the spring very strongly with some good leaf growth. It usually produces some lovely red flowers later in the year. New bird feeder with cage I went to the Range today to buy a new bird feeder. Previously the majority of birds we have attracted have been pigeons and magpies, but I wanted smaller garden birds. I bought the feeder with the caging to stop the bigger birds scaring the little ones off. My wife has started to grow Busy Lizzies on the inside propagator. Hopefully we’ll be able to plant them out when the weather gets warmer. High temperature was 7 degrees. Low was 0

Clematis trouble?

Hi everyone. My current panic is two fold. I am initially panicking over the forecasted cold snap which is due to hit the north west of England from Wednesday. This means my new plants are at severe risk of death. As a result we shall be covering them up from tomorrow. The temperature is currently 11 degrees. It could be -1 within 24 hours. New clematis My second major panic is that I believe my new clematis is struggling to get established. The leaves on the new branch were pointing down which makes me worry. I’ll continue to monitor it Flowering red camellia At least my new red camellia has begun to flower. However I will be wrapping it up to protect against the frost.

Covering up the new plants from FROST!

Covering the new plants This looks absolutely ridiculous but because of the supposed frosty couple of days that are on the way- I have decided to cover up our new plants as I believe that if I don’t… they will die. I have covered each of the plants in polythene individually and then tried to cover the whole of the area with two layers of polythene as well to try to ensure their survival. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
